Ann Allen

Shawms

One of the leading specialists on the shawm, Ann has been actively researching, studying and performing Alta Capella techniques for more than seven years. After her final diplom concert on shawm at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis she was invited to teach there for a number of years and now gives courses for early wind instruments throughout Europe. She plays with many ensembles including the ground breaking Alta Capella ensemble Les Haulz et Les Bas. She also experiments with modern shawm techniques performing on that instrument in rockbands, jazz groups and as an electronic instrument.
