MedivAlta
The wild sound of shawms and trumpets recaptures the past glory of the Alta Capella - one of the most prominent ensembles of the Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Performing on historical instruments, playing from original notation and where possible employing Memoria - the rhetoric of performing from memory - the group is steeped in historical performance practice but is always aware they have to speak to a 21st century audience.
The three wind players in the group met while studying together at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and individually members of the group have performed with leading early music ensembles including Les Haulz et Les Bas, Micrologus, Ensemble Lucidarium, Sarband, La Morra, and Concerto Palatino.
